There was no frost on Wednesday, but it was downright cold! I definitely wore a jacket.
I walked outside in the morning, but didn’t like it.
I had to go to the True Value Hardware in Redford (Five Mile
and Beech Daly) at lunch. I got what I needed and then went across the street
to Ackroyd’s Scottish Bakery. I bought myself a beef meat pie and, on a whim,
asked for one of their mac & cheese cups for Victoria to try. That’s when
things got awkward…
Sidebar: I should explain that the mac & cheese cup
looks like they made it in an oversized muffin tin. They line it with puff
pastry or filo dough and then fill it with homemade mac & cheese. I have
never tasted one myself, but heard they were great.
The mac & cheese cup was frozen (I didn't know that, but that’s how they are
sold) so her eating it this afternoon would be doubtful. I asked, “Once
this thaws, how long do you put it in the microwave for?” The tiny staff (three
people) went silent! The owner finally said, “We don’t recommend putting any of
our pies in a “microwave.” It makes the crust soggy and the filling dry. Use an
oven at 350 degrees for about 10-15 minutes!”
I said, “Well, I’m at work and only have a microwave. So,
how long would you suggest?” He said, “Don’t they have a toaster oven?” I said,
“No.” He said, “Then take it home and eat it tonight!”
I gave Vicky the frozen concoction and told her the
microwave story. She said she’d take it home and heat it in the oven.
I, on the other hand, was hungry so, risking the wrath of Ackroyd’s
and probably all of Scotland (including Laird Jake and Lady Carla), I stuck
mine in the microwave.
It tasted good, but the crust was soggy…
The sun came out, so I walked outside without a jacket in
the afternoon.
I got home after work and treated the cat. I changed clothes
and then started the Wednesday night wash. Then I loaded up the dishwasher and
ran it, too. I also did some cleanup in the downstairs bathroom.
So, I didn’t really “take the night off” but at least I didn’t
work on cabinet door paint removal!
I made a big salad for dinner to use up my little tomatoes,
more of the lettuce and more of the onions. I’m trying to clean out the fridge
before I go on vacation, you see.
I hung up or folded the clothes, but I let the dishes sit overnight
(so they would cool off).
I watched a couple of taped shows, but went to bed by 9:30
p.m.
You're getting better with your bed time, but still need to be at around 8:30ish PM. :)
