It was already hot and sticky when I left for work. This did
not bode well…
I went to the Newburgh Grill and got a cup of beef vegetable
soup and a mini Greek salad for lunch.
By the time I got home, it was hard to breathe. It wasn’t
South Carolina hot, but it was definitely Michigan hot. But, I had work to do
outside.
So, I dumped two gallons of water on all the roses out
front. Then I got my crowbar and pried out the 4x4s, topped with a treated 2x4’s
that line my front garden. I completely sweated
through my tee shirt and shorts. But, I got ‘er done!
Then I fired up some charcoal in my grill. I dumped the
coals from the charcoal lighter can, scrubbed the grill with a wire brush and then
oiled it. I added the sweet corn and tended to it.
Then it started to rain…
It wasn’t raining hard, more like sprinkling. But it was
putting the charcoal out. So, I covered the grill with the lid of my warming
station.
I got the sweet corn off (I make great roasted corn) and
then put on the rib eye steak. Unfortunately, when I finally gave up and pulled
the steak, it was definitely “rare.”
I personally prefer “medium rare.”
I ate most of the corn and choked down a few bites of the
steak.
I watched a little TV and then went to bed.
Dump the water, but don't be out there digging out 4x4s
