I woke up on Tuesday to the alarms. I posted the Blog
drinking a cup of coffee and then had another one with some date and nut bread
I had bought at Westborn.
Sidebar: My brother Carl spoiled me with that zucchini bread!
I usually eat toast or and English muffin with my morning pills, but I saw this
date and nut loaf and thought, “Hummm… My Mom used to make that!”
Not surprisingly, it did taste a lot like my Mother’s
homemade. It was even round (Mom made hers in tin cans.
It was the last of the hot days (90+ and humid), so I went
home at lunch. I stopped at the corner gas station and bought a bag of ice.
At home I ate another brat and some potato salad. When it
was time to go back to work, I put the ice in the big cooler and then put in a
box of 12 ice cream sandwiches and two packs of original Klondike bars.
Sidebar: They were both on sale at Kroger’s over the
weekend, which is what gave me the idea.
Since the techs have to run in and out in the heat all day,
I thought I’d give them a treat. I usually grab some donuts or bagels, but I
thought they’d appreciate this more. They did!
I was full from lunch, so I waited until after 2:00 p.m. to
get an ice cream sandwich. It was a soggy mess! So I moved what was left into
the little fridge’s freezer.
By the time 5:00 p.m. came, there was still one pack of
Klondike bars left, so I told Vicky to take them home.
Courtney sent me a text, warning me that there was a major
accident on I-96, the freeway was shut down and they were routing people off at
Merriman (thanks!) So, I let Fred, Vicky and Kelly know (we all use I-96).
I took Plymouth Road home, myself. When I got there, I had
just enough time to brush my teeth and water the transplants out front. The I
left for the dentist and my six month checkup and cleaning at 6:00 p.m.
Sidebar: I hate all that scrapping and digging crap, but my
mouth feels so much cleaner, afterwards!
Back home, I warmed up the rest of the steak and two ears of
sweet corn for dinner. Fantastic!
I watched a rerun of NCIS and then went to bed.
That was kind of you. While not much of a Klondiker, I do enjoy an ice cream sandwich.
ReplyDeleteNot a big fan of Klondike, either. But an ice cream sandwich and a cup of coffee and I'm a happy camper.
