I woke up early again on Friday. But, I didn’t make
breakfast this time. I just watched the early news in bed. Besides, I knew that
Courtney was using the bottle-return money (IT people drink an unbelievable
amount of soda) to pick up bagels, muffins, apple fritters and cinnamon rolls
from Looney Bakery.
It was cold and mostly cloudy all day, with occasional brief
showers. Altogether, it was an unpleasant day to be outside.
Victoria forgot her lunch, so we went to Max and Erma’s to
get a salad. At least that was our intent. But, they had a new combo meal: a
cup of soup, a cheeseburger with fries and a fresh baked cookie for dessert (and cheaper than any of their salads).
So, we ordered that instead. That was a mistake.
The chicken tortilla soup was good, but filling. Neither one
of us could finish our burger nor fries, much less eat a cookie! We got a bag
for the cookies and went back to work.
The afternoon passed slowly, as Friday afternoons do…
But, finally I was home.
I watered the hanging porch plants and let them drip dry (I
thought).
We have a frost/freeze tonight and Saturday night, but it’s
supposed to warm back up next week. I thought I’d save the plants as long
as possible. So, I took them down and hung them up in the garage, getting all
wet in the process. I’ll take them back out on Sunday once it warms up.
I put a garbage bag over the mum as well. Since I bought it
at Kroger’s (rather than at a nursery) I have no idea if it’s the “hardy”
variety. I like it (it’s the last splash of color in my yard) and didn’t want
to take any chances.
I baked a store-bought pizza and ate some of that, watching
the Red Wings get beat for the first time this year.
Did you ever get your AirBake pizza pan?
ReplyDeleteNo, never did...
