It was a bit warmer on Thursday, so I left the gloves home.
I checked my 401k and found I’d taken yet another hit! This
Chinese stock market meltdown is decimating my retirement fund!!!
I went to Ten Yen for lunch. The owner welcomed me with a
hearty “Happy New Year!” His daughter
came out of the kitchen with a bag of carryout. But, instead of taking it to
the front, she saw me and made a beeline for my booth to also wish me a happy new
year.
Sidebar: I keep forgetting to tell people that. For several
years now, the magical “New Year” glow is gone. I don’t quite know why. But, I
no longer think of it as a new chance, new resolutions, or new opportunities.
It’s just something to try and remember whenever I fill in a date…
I had the Won Ton soup, an egg roll, the Almond Chicken and
hot tea. As always, it was delicious, but way too much food.
The afternoon passed slowly.
Back home after work, I changed clothes. I had some things
planned for tonight, but was still tired. So, instead, I watched the news until
7:00 p.m.
Then I called my daughter, Melissa, and checked in. We
discussed our various holiday events.
When I hung up, I went to get some dinner. I was going to
make tuna and peas, but realized I still had some leftover chicken fried rice.
So, I warmed that up and ate Chinese yet again.
Sidebar: Good food, interesting country and lovely people,
but I hate their stock market!!!
I watched a taped show and went to bed at 9:30 p.m.
Your lunch sounds excellent...minus the almonds of course! Have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteDid your news say anything about the lead poisoning Governor Snyder caused in the entire city of Flint? I ask, because I’m just curious about the various ways folks have been generously volunteering to help mitigate the impact of the problem.
Do you think by eating in an
ReplyDeleteAmerican Chinese resturant, you will bolster the Chinese Stock Market....the irony
@ Carla: It was (minus the almonds, of course)
ReplyDelete@ Jyl: Yes, Governor Snyder's name was mentioned, but not as the "cause."
@ GPF: Hey, I'm trying to do my small part, okay?
