I visited the bathroom and made a cup of coffee. Then I went back to bed and watched the morning news shows. It felt good in bed (and I was lazy), so I turned off the TV and started reading a book.
Along the way, I made myself some toast topped with butter and honey in the comb.
I finished the book at 12:30 p.m., just as it started to rain. It didn't rain that much, but the wind was slamming it up against the windows, hard.
It lasted only an hour or so. When I looked outside, the lawn was littered with maple leaves. So, I went outside to get a picture and to check the gauge.
While I was playing photographer, I noticed one of the hanging planters blew down and was on the ground.
I went over to hang it back up, but found the hanger was ripped off. Worse yet, the fall had cracked open the planter itself. So, I set it upright, next to the tree. I'll get a new one nex time I'm at Home Depot.
On the way back in, I checked the gauge. I was lucky and had less than a half inch of rain in it.
Sidebar, some places in Southeast Michigan got over two inches of rain with the storm.
Back inside, I started my daily project.
Sidebar: My newest retirement concept is to do one project per day.
Today it was to thoroughly clean the downstairs bathroom. So, I grabbed a sponge, a brush and a mop. Then I got a bucket and filled it with hot water and some Pine Sol. Then I got to work.
I was done in about an hour. I left it to dry and took a break.
I had the last of the goulash for dinner.
I tried calling Melissa back, but it went to voice mail.
I watched TV for the rest of the night, ending up with the Tonight Show and Jimmy Fallon.
I was awakened around 5:00 a.m. by a very loud thunderstorm.
