Catching up: This afternoon...

I had called earlier in the week and gave my regrets because I didn't think I could attend my (Oh God! What would she be??? She's my niece, Caroline Constantine's, daughter Kara... Second niece? Doesn't sound right...) because my granddaughter Riese was having her first ballet recital today. (See, granddaughter is a nice, easy, line of succession... Anybody know what I should be calling Kara?)

However, it worked out that the ballet program started at 6:00 PM in Port Huron, and the graduation party at 3:00 PM in New Baltimore (for non-Michigan readers, from my house, New Baltimore is probably 50 miles away, on the way to Port Huron, which is maybe 20 miles further still).

So, I dropped into the party around 4:00 PM. It was nice to see everyone, especially Carl (of course). BTW, I would have NEVER recognized Chelsea (Linda and Bruce's daughter). She looks like a model! I saw pictures of Christa's new baby and Carl's flooded back yard, etc., etc., etc. Family stuff... familiar stuff... nice stuff...

My only regret? I had to leave at 5:00 PM, just as they started grilling the food (and Caroline's pasta salad looked to die for!)
