... German Shepherds? I don't mean the little, thin, scrawny things they call German Shepherds today. I mean the broad chested, 100+ pound, lean, mean, fighting machines they were when I was a kid. Watch any old World War II movie with prisoners, or better yet watch any 1950 -60's civil rights documentaries (where they turn the dogs loose on the militants) and you will see what I mean.
My dad loved German Shepherds...
I miss them...
The muscular animals that used to work themselves up into a frenzy on protestors and prisoners?
ReplyDeleteYeah, wow, why the breed went out of fancy eludes me.
Maybe my examples confused you. I don't miss guard or attack dogs (who were after all, only trained in their behavior by the German SS and the Southern police departments). I miss the big barrel-chested beautiful dogs themselves.
ReplyDeleteSince that analogy didn't work, think Rin Tin Tin!
