I take it on faith...
That all our joys and smiles spring from common ground,
enough good food to eat,
children at play,
a lover's caress,
a friend's laughter and
a starlit, soft, summer night.
I take it on faith...
That all our tears and fears spring from common ground,
the pain of betrayal,
a child's cry,
the loss of a loved one,
the suffering of a friend,
the cold hand of depression gripping one's soul.
I take it on faith...
That all our hopes and dreams spring from common ground,
a bright, new tomorrow,
the rainbow's end,
our children's children,
a little bit more for all,
and a final place for our spirits to rest.
I take it on faith...
That all the Earth's people spring from common ground,
the white man,
the black man,
the red man,
the yellow man...
So, why can't we get along?
