Monday, a little late...

I got confused Monday morning and thought I had to report for jury duty on Tuesday. But, luckily I checked and at 7:00 AM I found I was supposed to be in Wayne County Circuit Court at 7:45!

Left a few, frantic voicemails and headed out. Once again, got totally lost. Why? They are having "Winterfest" in downtown Detroit and a ton of streets are closed. But I finally found the courthouse and after paying $8.00 US for parking (NOT reimbursed, BTW), went inside.

Finally found a vacant seat (all the seats are jammed into each other and you have your coats and books and purses all on your laps. Not comfortable!) and started reading. I was careful NOT to have any coffee (trying to prepare for extended time without bathroom breaks) and just sips of water. They kept calling twenty names at a time, but never mine. I got a little cocky, thinking I would get out of this.

This was not to be. At 11:00, they called my name and I went up to the courtroom on the 7th floor. There were about 30 other potential jurors there, so I still felt I had a chance... But, no... I was the fifth picked one, and lived throughout all the challenges...

They said they thought it would only take one more day (Tuesday) so around 3:00 PM, the court adjourned and I went home.

Dinner was left over meatloaf, with steamed cauliflower, mashed potatoes and canned gravy. I was exhausted from the day, so I went to bed early.
