Woke up on Saturday at 8:30 AM. Started the laundry and put a pot of coffee on. I took a shower, drank some coffee, made eggs over easy and three rounds of pork sausage for breakfast, and was ready to face the day. First thing was to get a pork loin ready for tomorrow's Sunday dinner. I cut off some of the fat and scored the rest. Then I cut it in the middle to butterfly it (so I have a place for the stuffing). Next I used Emeril's Essence as my dry rub. Let that set for an hour or so and then put it in a plastic bag inside a roasting pan and dumped in a whole bottle of apple juice. This went into the fridge to marinate overnight.
It is warmer today (already 20 degrees F. -7 C. at 10:00 AM) but we are supposed to get hit with an Alberta Clipper this afternoon. I really should apologize to my friend Cathy now. I've always picked on her for Alberta Clippers, but after this month of having the wind blow directly down from the North Pole for days on end, I'll take the fast moving Alberta Clippers any day!
I spent a most enjoyable two hours, sitting on the couch with my feet up, drinking coffee and finishing a book, with the fireplace turned on and the snow softly falling.
But, alas, all good things come to an end. When I finished the book, I started on my taxes...
Absolutely no comment that is printable about THAT!!!
About 3:00 PM I made my lunch/dinner of French Dip sandwiches. There was nothing interesting on TV, so I popped in the DVD of "We Were Soldiers" and watched that, hoping to fall asleep for a nap. Never did nap, so when the movie was over, went out in the garage to clean up some of the mess left from making the new workbench.
Came back in about 8:00 PM. Made another sandwich, watched TV and went to bed.
