Well, we finally got the rain! Severe thunderstorms raced through the area, starting around 11:30 AM. First thing I did when I got home was to go out in back and check the rain gauge. It showed 1 and inches of rainfall at 5:20 PM! That was the good news. Bad news is a LOT of blown down maple tree branches (some pretty good sized). I'll clean 'em up tomorrow when it's nice again, I guess.
Today is a maintenance day here at the San Jose ranchero. I did three loads of laundry, ran the dishwasher and started hanging things back up in the kitchen that I took down for painting: potholders inside one cabinet, the calendar in another, the measuring cups and spoons, the small cutting board, the basting brush and all the non-stick implements back on the rolling cart. I am using either little or big gold cup hooks this time.
Dragged out the grill and made five hamburgers. Why five? That's how many buns I had left over. When I made the quarter-pounders using the peanut butter jar lid and the Saran Wrap, they fit perfectly on a normal hamburger bun. But, I bought the kind that have onion in them and are the size of Kaiser rolls. So, I had five large buns left after I discovered my mistake. I made these five patties by hand so they were bigger. I ate two for dinner and then went to read.
They are having fireworks in Detroit tonight and, while I can't see them, I sure can hear them! Finished my book and turned out the light at 10:45 PM.
