CaptainK's TV Repair Shop

Well, if you remember, Wednesday night left me with two problems. A kitchen sink to get out and no TV. So, I tackled the TV first (Hey, I'm a guy. I can get water from the bathroom, but I need a working remote!)

Called my cable company and explained the problem. I get sound and if I change channels, the sound changes, but I still have only a frozen picture from last night's show. They pinged the box and according to them, it was working fine. Much time and several diagnostic measures later, they decided it was my TV! Oh, nooooo!

After getting off the phone with them, I decided to try one more thing. I changed the connections to just the cable box and the TV (eliminating my DVD player). Bingo! Working fine! Called Jake to tell him I got it working, and he suggested putting it all back the other way (with the DVD) to see if it would work now. Grumbling, I did and it didn't! So, I changed all the connections again and now I can watch TV.

Basically, my DVD player/recorder crapped out. But a cheap one of those (without the tuner) costs about 1/3 of what a TV would, so I'm not too unhappy.

Now, it's after 7:00 PM and I'm just getting started on the sink again. I did pick up one of those fluorescent work lights for cars at lunch, so now at least I can see what I'm doing. I managed to get all of the clips from front and down one side off before my back started screaming (I was never a contortionist, but have to act like one in that tiny space).

It was almost 8:00 PM anyway, so I stopped, warmed up the rest of the pulled pork and ate that for dinner - watching TV!
