I had high hopes for today that never materialized. Supposed to rain - it didn't. I thought I could breeze through the second coat on the garage wall and the two shelves and get several other things accomplished, I couldn't.
I was painting when I heard the phone ring. It was my daughter, M______. I was sorry we couldn't talk, but I did get the dates I needed from her. So, I apologized, hung up and went back to work.
I was painting the shelves outside on sawhorses when the two little girls across the street called me over (you remember them, right? They were the ones I hired to pick the rocks out of my lawn this Spring). They had dragged their small plastic picnic table next to the row of mail boxes. So, I walked over and they asked me if I wanted some of those Pepperidge Farm Goldfish (they each had a handful). I declined, but they persisted, begging, "Please take them!" So, I said sure. They poured them into my hands and said, "Okay, that's 50 cents, please." I said, "What?" and they pointed to a 3" x 5" card, laying flat on the picnic table saying, "Goldfish - 50 cents." Laughing, I walked back and got four quarters out of the car (I keep them there for the quarter car wash). I took them back across the street, paid them and thanked them both.
After painting, I washed a load of whites and put up two curtain rods and then hung the new curtains on the downstairs window by the washing machine. I was supposed to also hang the mini-blinds on the door and install a new showerhead in the main bath. But now its 7:40 PM, and I still have to water all the gardens.
So, container gardens with the watering can first, then the back garden and worked my way up to the front and the mail box garden last. Finished watering at 9:25 PM. I checked the wall in the garage and it was dry. So, since I had everything out, gave it and the two shelves a third coat. It was just dark and the fire flies were dancing in the humid air.
Now its 9:55 PM, and I am starving. Leftovers "again" sounds too boring, though. So, I peeled the eggplant I'd bought last weekend, cut it into 3/4 inch slices, dipped it in a milk/egg mixture, then flour and fried it. I ate it watching the news on TV, but when I was done eating; I turned it off and went to sleep.
