Friday

I woke up at 6:30 AM and was tiptoeing around the house until the ladies awoke at 8:30. When the room cleared, I managed to post the Blog (sorry to all my anxiously awaiting fans!)

I left at 10:45 AM to go to lunch with B___ again as they were off to the hospital. We went to the mall so I could get come cards at hallmark. I believe I told you of my sadness at the passing of my favorite store, Bombay, right? well, Now Williams-Sonoma is moving out!!! Aaauugghh! No more free cooking classes! No more high-end gadgets to drool over (but not buy - WAY too expensive there! Come to think of it, maybe that's why they have to close, too much drooling, not enough buying!)

I had a few more stops after dropping B___ off and then I got home. I Tried to take a nap, but couldn't fall asleep, so I caught up on all my missed, but taped, shows. Luanne called around 5:30 PM to say they were still at the hospital and waiting for another doctor to show up. She didn't want to spoil dinner. I told her I assumed they wouldn't be here until later and, since dinner was quick, I was waiting until they showed up before starting anything.

But, I got bored... So, since I still had about half of the shrimp filling from the Christmas appetizer (that failed) and half a package of the Philo dough, I warmed the filling and thawed the dough, then made about 10 or 12 turnovers, but bigger than the sad attempt at Christmas. They turned out pretty good. I though they probably wouldn't have taken time for lunch, and they didn't, so Lu, at least had a few appetizers waiting for dinner. She said they were great!

So, they showed up at 715 and I started dinner while they told me the most current news. I finely sliced 3 ounces of fresh shittake mushrooms (stems removed) and 3 ounces of oyster mushrooms and then started sauting them in olive oil. After 3 minutes or so, I added 3 minced cloves of garlic for a minute or so and then 6 ounces of baby spinach. Meanwhile, I took a ready-made pizza crust (whole wheat for the ladies, who crave such weird things) and smeared it with 8 ounces of softened goat cheese I bought the other day. I topped the goat cheese with the mushroom/spinach mixture and put it in the oven on 425 degrees F. for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, Sadie made a salad. And that was dinner.

Truthfully, only Luanne really liked the pizza. Sadie said it was okay, but only had one piece. I thought it was nice and tangy, but needed something else to balance that tang; maybe roasted cherry tomatoes?

After cleaning up, we talked a bit, but it was almost 10:00 PM so we went to our respective beds and called it a night.
