Thursday's Dirty Deeds

Cold again today. I got home in a fairly good mood until I went into the living room... There was my new plant stand, tipped over and wedged between the table and my chair. The plant itself was on the floor behind the chair with a lot of the dirt spilled all over the place! Lucky for her, Caley was nowhere to be found.

So, this sucks! But, the table got righted, the dirt swept up and saved, and I took the plant into the kitchen. Using my counter top as a planting table, I replanted it about 3 inches deeper, to give it some stability. I tried to find a thin dowel I know is out in the garage to use as a plant stake, but no such luck. So, deeper it went and I can only hope the wobbliness is due to the shock of the accident and not an indication the whole plant is broken. We'll see...

I restarted the wash machine I had shut off yesterday at final rinse and then threw the clothes in the dryer.

I thought I needed something to cheer me up, so I made a personal favorite of mine, linguini with clam sauce (white). So, I still don't have anchovies, but I increased the salt a tad to compensate. When it all came together, I plated a big pile of it, topped it with Parmigiano-Reggiano and dug in... Now, that's good!

I hung up my clothes and then cleaned up the kitchen (a lot less mess cooking than replanting, I might add). I decided to rest a while on the couch with a book before watching TV, but I was engrossed and it got later and later. Last time I looked at the clock it was after 10:00 PM. Next time I looked at the clock, I had just woken up, still on the couch and it was 2:00 AM. I turned off the fireplace and the lights and went to bed for real.
