Friday's Clipper

Well, my old friend Canada Cathy sent us a present again. An Alberta Clipper hit Michigan and (at least here in Redford) the snow started about 7:00 AM. So, the drive into work was a bit dicey! I stayed on surface streets and relied on my Volvo's "W" button and the excellent ABS brakes and got there okay. Going out at lunch with B___ was even dicier! I just tried to find tracks and stay in them, but it wasn't all that easy! The storm finally quit around 3:00 PM, leaving a little more than 3 inches of snow here in its wake. The ride home wasn't too bad as the roads were now salted and the temp had gotten just above freezing this afternoon. More slush than slip, if you know what I mean.

I took off my coat and, after checking that the plant stand and plant were intact, gave the cats their treats. I have decided that killing Caley for being too rambunctious is, well, overkill, lol! The punishment doesn't fit the crime, so to speak. So, the next time her antics cause me a problem (the plant and plant stand, the clay dish on the kitchen table I watched her smash, etc.) I am just going to break one of her legs. That will slow her down, I think. Hey, Germans are much more practical than emotional, okay?

I glanced out the kitchen window and saw all manner of birds, hunting for seed on and under the empty bird feeder. They must have been hunkered down during the storm and just now come out, looking for food. So, I put my coat back on, got my boots and went out to fill the feeder, throw some seed on the ground for the mourning doves, and replace the suet cake. Now, when I am at the Feed Store (that's the name of it, BTW) I usually just grab 5 or 6 different suet cakes (with names like "Berry Blast" or "Songbird Suet" and so on). But I had one tonight I never bought before, called "Insect Treat" which consisted of (I looked at the package after opening it) suet, corn, millet and dehydrated insects. It was sooo gross! All manner of dead bugs, embalmed in animal fat! I am anxious to see if the squirrels try to eat this one, lol!

I started a load of laundry with the last two days work clothes and this week's towels. I sat down and filled this in to date, then got my book and headed to the living room again.

My granddaughter Riese (who is 8) called, asking me to sponsor her for the March of Dimes. Apparently, you pledge an amount per books she will read during March (the only stipulation is that they cannot be comic books or text books - I am sure her Uncle Jake would have an issue with banning comic books). I asked her how many books she thought she might read and she said maybe 30. So, I said I would donate $1 per book (She said, "That's what Daddy said, too!"). I am still a little unsure how and when I get notified of what I owe and who to send it to, but I assume this will all sort out in days to come.

I am a little hungry, so I warmed up two leftover hotdogs and ate them with onions, yellow mustard and bread. I skipped the burping this time by skipping the beer (Carla said it wasn't manly, anyway). Then it was back to my book until 9:00 PM and Friday Night Boxing. I watched that until I dozed off (but not to worry, I'm taping it as well). I woke up at 12:30 AM, found my glasses, turned off the TV and lights and went to sleep.
