I got home a bit late. I stopped at Kroger's to pick up a few things. I had also picked up some 12-12-12 fertilizer at lunch.
So, after the usual welcome home fuss, I changed clothes and went out back. They've been predicting thunderstorm and rain for today and tonight, but so far, it's only occasionally sprinkled here.
So, first I raked out the maple seeds in the raised bed garden. Then I worked up the soil between the rows and tried to carefully sprinkle on some fertilizer (I only have 1-foot between rows and don't want to burn the plants). Then I worked the fertilizer into the soil, and checked for clouds... Hmmm...
I'm not trusting this forecasted rain, so I set the square sprinkler in the middle of the garden and watered it. Meanwhile, I went out to the back garden and added fertilizer around the roses and the squash/cucumber mounds.
Back up at the house, I sprinkled a little fertilizer around the herbs, too. I turned off the water and went inside.
I returned a call from last night from Melissa. We chatted a bit and set a phone time for the weekend as she had to go.
I called my brother Carl, who said he's doing better, although still not back at work. He said he's send me photos of his English Country Garden when it's done.
I checked email and found one from Jeremy who said he'd just got back from dinner at Boston's Chart House restaurant, He had the Snapper Hemingway, a Parmesan and cracker encrusted snapper sauteed and topped with jumbo lump crab and shallot butter, served with rice pilaf. He said it was easily the best fish he ever had. Does sound good!
In contrast, I warmed up some hot dogs and the last of the cauliflower for my dinner (what am I doing wrong?) I watched TV until I fell asleep. I woke up at 1:00 AM and went to bed.
