When I left for work on Thursday morning, there was a big truck parked on the side of the road with big black pipes. When I got home that night, the vacant lot next to me had suddenly sprouted a bunch of the orange constructions barrels in big stacks. And, as I changed clothes, I heard that particularly annoying beep-beep-beep of a truck backing up. I looked out the window and it was another big truck, this time carrying concrete thingies, backing all the way down San Jose (about 1/2 mile) and (according to the neighborhood grapevine) off loading them in another vacant lot. Looks like the water main project is about to start!
Anyway, I stopped on the way home and got two gallons of gas for the mower. So, I checked the oil and gassed it up and then started cutting the front. I finished up the back just after 8:00 PM.
I did talk over the fence with my neighbor and he volunteered to use his power auger to make me a permanent mailbox post-hole. Why do I want that instead of the cute one I made? Well, because when they pave the road (just after the water main is done, so says the grapevine), they will pave into each driveway for some undetermined amount of feet. Since my replacement mailbox is sitting on the driveway, that's not so good. It's always something, isn't it?
I ate the rest of the rice mixture for dinner and tried to get interested in TV, but gave up and went to bed at 9:30 PM.
