  1. It is unfortunate Reagan’s presidency did not match the dash of his words. Republicans excel at speeches and deficits, at bravado and bankruptcy. That is not to say Democrats do not do damage to the economy, of course. It is just that Republicans are so consistently good at running the country into the ground. Takes my breath away, really.

    @ Anon - Cold, man, though I thought you might be on to something, so I checked, but its a mixed bag.

    Since 1900, political assassinations where the person died were: William McKinley (R), Huey Long (D), John F. Kennedy (D) and Robert Kennedy (D).

    Political assassinations where the person was hit, but survived: Theordore Roosevelt (R), George Wallace (D) and Ronald Reagan (R).

    Political assassination attempts where the person wasn't hit: Franklin D. Roosevelt (D), Harry Truman (D) and Gerald Ford (two attempts!) (R)
