It's a funny story, actually. I was told that Redford, where there are miles of unpaved roads like I live on, was going to pave all of them within three years. I was bitching at my neighbor, citing my (supposed) rise in taxes when he told me a major (unnamed here) corporate entity in Redford had been fined a fortune for pollution. Instead of forking over the multi-million dollar fine, they offered to pave all the dirt roads in Redford, over a period of years. So, no increase in taxes to me!
But, before they pave San Jose, they needed to upgrade the watermain and add several fire hydrants. So, that's where we are at. I have been told (although its unconfirmed at present) that when they do blacktop, they will offer to pave my driveway at a reduced rate. My neighbor, the builder, has already offered to remove 6 inches of the existing gravel. So, If the price isn't too exorbitant, I will probably get my driveway blacktopped from the road to the concrete garage apron.
Ah, you mean my street urchins! Well, sadly, one of the two has moved away (they were cousins, you see). But the one who was the little hustler of the two is still here.
So, I am sure she will con me out of some of my money, somehow! If not, I'll offer her Mom money to have her weed one of my gardens, or whatever.
You gotta take care of the street urchins, my man!
Just watermains? or are they planing to pave as well......

We'll see...
Hey, what a second! If they pave the road and then you pave the driveway then you will have little, if any, rocks in your lawn.
ReplyDeleteWho's going to help those two little girls go to college?
