I woke up at 6:30 AM (that's more like it, sleeping in!), wandered out and, ignoring the mess from yesterday, warmed up a cup of coffee and went to work on yesterday's Blog. It's a big post!
I had my second cup of coffee on the porch. It's not as cool as yesterday (about 64 degrees according to my thermometer) but still feels good. When I came back inside, I opened up some of the windows, to catch the air before it gets too warm. Then I shaved and showered.
Back to work! I cleaned up the rest of the sheet pans and containers from yesterday's food and finally, I can see my counter and stove again. I put a load of clothes in the washer (mostly the bath towels and the kitchen towels I used yesterday) roll up the sleeping bag and set it where I would remember to take it in the attic, later.
Now, onto painting that third wall's trim. It's a bugger, too much wood trim and too many places I won't be able to fit a full-size roller in. I have to stop once to wash up and fold the laundry but I get it done just after 11:30 PM. I take a break to sit on the patio to rest my legs.
It's really a gorgeous day, I decide, sitting in my Adirondack chair with my feet up on the footstool. I notice that the cicadas are back, with their weird chattering noise. I reluctantly (and I do mean reluctantly) go back inside to my painting at noon.
I had all three walls finished and was cleaning up the brushes by 3:00 PM. I am hungry, sore and tired. So, I warmed up a hamburger for my breakfast/lunch and go lay down on the bed (after removing the drop cloth) and watched TV, hoping to take a nap.
Well, that doesn't work. But I do get a nice break and my knees feel a lot better. So, I get back up and go out to water all the container gardens. I have decided I must devote this whole upcoming week's nights to weeding all my gardens, BTW.
Inside, I use a Brillo pad to clean off the hinge pins for the two doors in the bedroom. I rinse them off in hot water and set them on the drying rack to dry. I give them about 1/2 hour and then (after greasing them), re-install the two hinge doors. Next I put the bi-fold doors on the big closet (first time in almost one week I have doors on my bedroom)!
All the doors operate better than they ever did, but, since it's almost 9:00 PM, I had to turn the bedroom light on and saw several areas where the rolled paint is too light. Fortunately, none of the brush work is bad and, since I over-bought the paint (I still have 1 1/4 gallons left!) I should be okay. Still, it's a second step I did NOT want to have to take.
I quit for the night and make a light supper: buttered egg noodles, topped with chopped fresh parsley and grated Parmigiano-Reggiano. I checked the TV and, again, nothing new and exciting was on. So, I watch Rambo for the hundredth time and then Lethal Weapon, also for the hundredth time (this must be the week for watching old movies).
It was done (and so was I) at 1:00 AM, so I went to sleep.
