Tuesday, in the soup again!

I got up with the alarm clock but, since its garbage day, I completely forgot about making the cinnamon toast! Damn!

On the way home, I stopped at Westborn to get the fresh veggies I need to make the second batch of gazpacho. BTW, I completely forgot when I was eating it, (and writing about it) but normally, you are supposed to drizzled extra virgin olive oil on top each bowl and top it with croutons. They also sometimes top it with fresh chopped tomatoes, diced cucumbers, and/or red peppers, chopped black olives and/or chopped hard boiled eggs. NONE of which I am bringing out to Lake Orion tomorrow; just some croutons and olive oil. And, I would normally make my own croutons, with a baguette, some olive oil and some garlic cloves, but there's a problem. If you recall, the oven at Lake Orion has never functioned. So, I got some store-bought (sigh).

I had every intention of applying the herbicide to the driveway tonight, but the wind is blowing WAY too strong. So, instead, I folded some clothes I had left in the dryer and emptied the dish washer. Then I got to making the next batch of gazpacho. Mostly it's standing up and chopping veggies. I made it more interesting by trying to see just how uniform I can come to cutting everything to an exact 1/4 inch cube. Knife skills, baby, knife skills!

So, at just a tad after 8:00 PM, the next batch is chilling in the fridge and I am done. I warm up some chicken noodle soup for my dinner and eat it at the table perusing the circulars for stores in the area I got in the mail today. Then I wander in to watch TV and chill, myself.

  1. As I recall, that oven at Lake Orion had to be lit with a match... No ?

Tell me it's not that easy !

  2. Uh, no... The oven/stove you're thinking of was the original, but it was deemed unsafe about 15 years ago. Somebody (Uncle Carl?) donated another, newer gas stove, but apparently, the oven didn't work (which maybe why they donated it!)

  3. Unsafe? I thought it was because someone wanted to add it to their antique collection.
