I woke up at 6:30 AM and warmed up some of the coffee I'd made for Bill. I posted the Blog and had another cup.
I dawdled around until about 9:00 AM and then shaved and showered. Now that it's trimmed, I'd like to get the front lawn cut before they start on paving the road again (I hate that smell!) Too late! Ah, well... They are paving the rest of the other side of the road first, so I should be able to get out without driving on the hot asphalt.
Before I started cutting the lawn, I set the oscillating sprinkler back up and watered that one patch of new grass seed in the backyard.
I got the front lawn cut (I'll do the back some other day. It's just not that long yet) and put the mower put away by 10:00 AM. My plan is to go visit my brother Carl. He's in the hospital after having his knee replaced (this whole remaining generation is screwed up!)
Oh, no! The street pavers are now on my side and almost to my driveway! But, I got out just in time. Whew!
I left around noon, so I wouldn't interrupt his lunch. I was surprised at just how far away the hospital was, though (for some reason, I remembered it vaguely from back in the day, but drove right to it, like I always do).
Carl's doing okay today (he had it a bit rough yesterday, I hear) and will go home either tomorrow or Saturday. He's got a pretty, straight 10-inch scar, with staples. BTW (on me, they twice have followed the original injury scar so as not to add more scar tissue, so mine wanders all over the place and is damn right disturbing to sensitive adults and small children). I stayed about an hour and a half and then, his daughter, Hannah, and his grandson having come to visit, made my goodbyes.
Since he only lives a few miles from the hospital, I dropped in to see B___. Finally, I made the long drive home.
When I got there, I found my street is now completely paved. Nice job, BTW. You guys raise a stink, but do nice work...
I found a lovely sympathy card from Sadie. I called to thank her for it, but just got the voicemail. So, I left her a message.
I made a salad bowl and ate that for a late dinner/snack. Without an afternoon nap, I barely made it to 9:00 PM before falling asleep. Of course, I was wide awake at 2:00 AM and couldn't fall back asleep until almost 5:00 AM. I hope I can get these sleep sessions back under control before I have to go back to work!
