I awoke to the alarm on Friday. I shaved and showered and then headed out early. I have to get some blood drawn before work this morning.
I went to the same old clinic and got the same old nurse I always do. We talked about the weather and I mentioned the snow storm in Pennsylvania. She said, "I'm sorry, but I am from Tennessee and am NOT smarter than a fifth-grader. I have no idea where Pennsylvania is!"
I tried to explain, but the way her eyes glazed over, I knew she didn't really get it, so I let it go.
Work was long and either too busy or too boring. The only real bright spot was going to lunch with Tracey (I haven't seen her for a long time). She had some good news! They may have sold her husband's house in St. Clair Shores, so they can move back here, closer to work. They've had it on the market since they got married a year ago.
I also dropped off four cups of the Cheddar and Horseradish soup to Michelle. She and her family are one of my taste-test groups, lol.
Around 2:00 PM, I had the tremendous desire to take a nap. So, I chugged down two cups of coffee and took a walk inside the building (its a BIG building).
After work, I spent the first hour or so straightening up the house. Then I started dinner. I peeled about six medium-sized russet potatoes and put them in my Dutch oven. I added in a bag of sauerkraut and topped that with a pound of beef smoked sausage, cut on the bias.
While I was doing that, I glanced out the kitchen window and saw a very large (about the size of a mourning dove) red-headed woodpecker eating on the suet cage. I ran and got the camera, but by the time I got back, it was gone. Dammit!
I brought that to a boil and then put the lid on and let it simmer for about 20 minutes (until the potatoes were fork tender). I made up a big plate, added a dab of Dijon mustard and wandered in to watch some TV.
I did talk with my friend B___ who called to see how my week went. I managed to stay awake until 10:00 PM, but then called it a night.
