And that's what it was: A good Friday, not necessarily a great Friday. But a good one.
I slept in late (for me) and woke up with a sense of urgency. Why? I dunno...
I ate a half of a grapefruit for breakfast and made a cup of instant coffee (the now cleaned coffee pot is still in the dishwasher but I was too lazy to get it out).
It was an absolutely gorgeous day here on San Jose. It was supposed to get to 80+ degrees here (more like July than the second day of April). So, I ventured outside, first with my camera (see photos) and then with my multi-functional dowel.
The dowel has a hook in one end (to pull down the attic stairs in the garage - it's a 12-foot ceiling) and a nail in the other that I cut the end off and sharpened. I took that and a garbage bag and walked the back yard, picking up trash.
Without a coat!
It used to be worse when Farmer Jack's was open, but I still had about half of the garbage bag full when I finished.
I had taken a package of bratwurst, one pack of hot dogs and a pound of hamburger from the freezer to thaw. So, about 6:00 PM, I fired up the charcoal lighter can. When the charcoal was red-hot, I dumped it in and started grilling (after scrubbing the grates and re-oiling them). I drank a cold beer to celebrate the season.
Now, I don't have any hotdog or hamburger buns (my bad) but I did eat three of the hotdogs with just Dijon mustard. The rest of the grilled meat went into the fridge for lunches/dinners next week.
When I came back in the house, I noticed all the electronic clocks were blinking, so we must have had a momentary power outage. I reset them all.
My friend B___ called about 7:30 PM and we caught each other up on our day.
I watched some taped TV shows and then went to bed. I woke up at 4:00 AM, posted this entry and the photos and then went back to bed.
