I woke up Wednesday morning two minutes before the alarm went off. I soldiered on and got ready for work and left a few minutes early (why? I dunno...)
At lunchtime, I took pictures of the only tulip that has blossomed this year. It's quite pretty and I hope the photos do it justice.
I came straight home after work, changed clothes and then got out the 100-foot extension cord and the Sawzall. I went out back and cut the pine tree stump from last year (as level as I could make it) to about 18 inches high. I want to put a flower pot on top of it, you see. Between the ferns and the Lily-of-the-Valley, the Wild Garden is really coming on.
Then I got out the line trimmer and started on the areas the 100-foot cord could reach (it ended just at the start of the raised bed garden). I began to work my way back to the patio when the wind picked up. They said on the morning weather forecast a cold front would be moving in after 5:00 PM, bringing the possibilities of a brief shower. Sure enough, just as I was finishing up, it started to sprinkle (not rain, just sprinkles). But, I'm pretty sure the dumbest thing you can do when its raining is be holding an electric appliance. So, I hurriedly finished up, turned off the power and wound the 100-foot cord up. I was back inside just after 6:30 PM.
So it's still a little early to worry about "supper" (thanks to Tarami Sue for clearing that up), so I went on the Web to see what's going on. By some weird coincidence, I now have two open boxes of beef broth, so I need to use them up before they go bad. The first thing that came to mind was French Onion Soup over the weekend. So, that's what I planned.
Then, about 7:00 PM, I checked outside. The wind had abated and the sprinkling seemed to have stopped. Dammit! I'd hope it would rain long enough to water the front garden and mailbox seeds. Oh well, it's supposed to rain all weekend (which is why I keep doing this every weekday night).
I filled the Blog in to date and then made a quick salad of hearts of Romaine and thin sliced onions. I dressed that with the store-bought Ranch dressing. Then I heated up a Marie Callender's chicken pot pie in the microwave. I'm cheating, but chilling, tonight.
I watched TV and then went to sleep early.
