And then it was Thursday

Thursday morning was chilly, but it was supposed to get to 60 degrees F. by 5:00 PM. I ate half of a big grapefruit for breakfast (heavily salted).

At lunch I stopped at Westborn to get the onions and the Gruyere cheese for this weekend's soup. On a whim, I also picked up some Amish Blue Cheese they just got in.

After work and after changing clothes, I got to work. First I watered the mailbox garden and the new shrub. Then I poured the rest of the bag of dirt I bought into the dirt left over from digging out the hole for the arborvitae (in the wheel barrow) and took that out back. I also took a rake, the "Garden Weasel" and the dandelion digger.

First stop was the west end of the horseshoe pits. This got chewed up by that yahoo when he got stuck trying to deliver the mulch last year (or has it been two?) I used up all the dirt fixing the ruts. I went back inside and got some grass seed for the spots that needed it. I applied that and then worked it in with the rake.

I moved over to the raised bed garden and dug out all the weeds with the dandelion digger. I raked out all the pine cones and pine needles and then worked the soil up with the garden weasel.

I put everything away and went back inside at 6:45 PM (I figure if I do a little each night, I can make up for my weekend work as it's supposed to rain this weekend).

I put eight eggs in my medium saucepan with cold water on the stove and brought that to a boil. Just about then, Lu called. She's done with birthing baby goats (43 of them!) and had a very successful sale of soaps and products, so she's happy.

When the egg water began to boil, I took the pan off the heat, covered it and set the timer for 10 minutes (the easiest way to make perfect hardboiled eggs).

After I hung up the phone from Lu, it immediately rang again. It was my daughter Melissa. We chatted for a while (not as long as usual) and then hung up as well.

It was late now, so I put the hardboiled eggs in the fridge and just ate some leftovers for dinner (rather than the creamed eggs I'd planned).

I watched some TV and then went to bed.
