Working Wednesday

Because I'd stayed up so late the night before, I was kinda dragging throughout Wednesday morning.

I had to run an errand at lunchtime, but did get home in time to eat a bite and watch the news. It was getting definitely warmer by then, so I left my light jacket at home when I went back to work.

When I got home after work, I didn't change clothes, just shoes. I had some light chores to do outside and, since I had to do the Wednesday night laundry anyway, I figured what the hell.

First I put out all my outdoor statues. That would be the small Buddha back by the wall, the other one in the wild garden (where I saw a beautiful little yellow flower I'd never seen before) the young Shaolin monk, the turtle and the little gargoyle (all by the patio) and the frog out in front (in the tree garden).

I noticed I could use a lot more mulch, but fear that's not gonna happen this year.

Then I hooked up the hose and turned the water on from the inside. If you remember, that outside faucet broke last year and I had my own backyard ice sculpture. Well, it's still busted (water was spraying all over the place) but I put up with it long enough to fill the reflecting pool. The pool had a lot of dirt and debris in it, so I kept on stirring it so the water could wash some of it out.

While that was getting clean, I went out front and moved the mailbox tub closer to the newly paved road. If you remember, both the postman and I had to drive down off the pavement to get to it (uncomfortable at anytime and difficult in the winter snow).

I added some dirt to the tub and then planted what Burpee calls its Mailbox and Lamppost garden seeds (Egyptian Pea vine, Black-eyed Susan Vine, Zinnia and Nasturtiums). I hauled out a bucket of water for it and another for the arborvitae.

I finally shut off the water and set out the water lily.

I took a few pictures for you. Then I shut everything up and finally changed clothes. I started the Wednesday night wash. It was about 7:30 PM. I took a phone call, chatted a while and when I hung up, it was after 8:00 PM.

Now it was a bit too late for making dinner, so I ate more leftovers (I am getting a bit tired of the "goulash"). After I hung up the laundry, I watched a little TV, but went to bed early, the recorder set to tape anything I might be missing.
