Sad, sad day on San Jose...

It was great sadness and regret that I must report that Newt died during the night.

I buried him under the new arborvitae I'd recently planted out front.

I can't stand looking at the tank, so I disassembled it and threw the smaller pieces in the kitchen trash. I put the stones under the new arbor out back and the tank in the garage for the trash.

Rest in peace, little buddy!

  1. That's really a bummer, man, but we should be grateful for how long he lived. I think you said it best in '04 with "Owed to a Newt":

    Minute is so little,
    Minute is so small...
I think I love my Newt
    the very best of all!

    RIP, little dude.

  2. I am so sorry for your loss. But he did outlive his expectancy so he must've had a happy healthy good life.

  5. My favorite Newt story is, when he was younger and (I surmise) he could see better, whenever I was near the tank, he would walk up to the glass. If I placed my finger on the glass, he would walk over and place his foot on the glass by my finger. It was like we were giving each other a high-five (or maybe low-five) to each other through the glass.
