Monday was hot and humid with occasional rain showers here.
On the way home at lunchtime, I stopped at Westborn and got some Yukon Gold potatoes, some cooking onions, a dozen eggs, a little milk and, on impulse, a small watermelon. When I got home, I treated the cats and stuck the eggs, milk and watermelon in the fridge. Then I made a can of split pea soup for my lunch.
It rained again in the afternoon, but by the time I left work it had stopped and the heat had dried the pavement.
I started a load of clothes (after changing mine) and then tried to call Lu to see how everybody's doing. But, I just got the voicemail.
I did a few inside chores and then went in to watch the 6:00 PM news. Lu called back and we caught each other up. Sounds like with skunks, an abscess tooth and a bad back, they've had a rough few weeks. But one of the highlights was Riese's visit, so that's cool.
After we'd hung up, I went out back with the hand trimmers. I noticed late Sunday the dogwood (in the very back) had a growth spurt and was now into the flowering plum. So, I cut it back. I'll clean up the mess tomorrow, but for tonight I just put the trimmers away.
For dinner, I fried up the last of my old potatoes, some sliced onions and smoked sausage (cut on the bias). I ate that watching a taped Masterpiece movie, "Murder on the Orient Express." I watched a few more shows until I started nodding off, then I went to bed.
What kind of smoked sausage are you eating these days? I checked out the ingredient list on our old brand and found, among other things, corn syrup and "flavorings". We started buying Dearborn brand and they're pretty good.
ReplyDeleteNo, same old, same old for me. But, that's interesting. Where do you get the Dearborn brand?
ReplyDeleteSo, which brand is it? Kroger has Dearborn.
ReplyDeleteThis time it was Ekrige (sp), I think. It was on sale. But I do buy another one as well who's name I can't remember.
ReplyDeleteEkrich was what we were buying, too. Primary ingredients: pork, beef, mechanically separated turkey, water, corn syrup.
