Just Hanging Out

When I woke up Thursday morning, it was one degree F.! When I left for work, I found that one degree was accompanied by a wicked wind.

This time I remembered to make a sandwich, so I ate lunch inside for the first time in a long time. Once I finished my apple, there was nothing to do. Look at the computer? I do that all day long. I have to remember to bring in a book.

I left at 3:00 PM to go to the construction site in my old building. The wiring crew had left by the time I got there, but there are only two things left to do in this phase. I’ll call them in the morning and make sure they are coming back.

When I got home, I pulled next to the mail box to get the mail. That’s when I noticed they had plowed the road and there was a big bank of snow in front of my newly plowed driveway. I pulled forward and hung the belly of the car up. I went into the house, put on a warm hat and good gloves and grabbed the snow shovel.

But, the snow shovel was too big to get under the car. So I swapped it for the transfer shovel and dug the snow out. I looked in the garage to find some sand (I thought I had some left from an old project) but only could find pea gravel. (Note to self: Buy a bag of cheap kitty litter and throw it in the trunk for emergencies.) So, I put the gravel in the front and back of each tire. Then, with a little rocking, I got the car moving and into the garage.

I returned Carla's Mom's call. She just wanted to make sure I was alright. She said they have sleet down in Alabama today.

For dinner, I warmed up all the veggies and some of the roast beef for dinner, with the au jus. I froze the rest of the beef.

I watched some TV but went to bed early. I think all that digging wore me out!

Hey, man, remember you are a Goerlich. All lunches are working lunches. Surely, there was something to do right in front of you.
