Since I couldn't restrain myself from posting the big news, I guess I neglected the usual (boring, mundane) stuff.
I think the drive in on Tuesday was worse than Monday. The two-tracks, although plowed, still had not been salted and were packed down into ice. So, stopping and starting at lights was a problem. Thank God for ABS brakes!
And, about halfway through my drive in, I figured out a valuable trick. When I just sat there at the green light, spinning my tires on the ice, I moved over a bit into the snow and got going. I'll remember that (and you should, too).
I had remembered to make a sandwich (ham, Swiss cheese, romaine lettuce and hot mustard on whole wheat bread) and take an apple for lunch this time.
On the way home, I stopped at Home Depot and bought another bag of rock salt. After treating the cats (and myself) I went back outside. I used the snow shovel to tidy up the porch area and around the mail box (no mail today, I guess from the snow in front of the box). Then, I used about half the bag of rock salt to thoroughly salt the driveway. My friend B___ told me this not only removes the snow that's there, but help to melt any more snow that comes (and we had more predicted later this week).
Then I pulled the car back out and used the broom to sweep out all the water that was on the garage floor from the snow that melted off the car. I sprinkled more rock salt where the rubber from the garage door meets the floor (its frozen there before).
I went back inside, turned the furnace up (hey I can afford the gas bill now!) and when the temperature reached the unbelievable amount of 72 degrees, I changed clothes. But, not before I did a little naked "dance of joy."
I made my Mom's tuna and peas (one can of drained tuna, one can of mushroom soup and some frozen peas - she always used canned peas, but I like the frozen ones better). I served that on top of the rest of the egg noodles I warmed up in the microwave.
I watched the original "Godfather" movie (the only one I like in that series) on AMC and when it ended, I went to bed.
