A Good Flush Beats a Full House

It was still cold on Monday morning, with frost on everything. It feels more like early December rather than late March.

I ate two bowls of my melon, grapes and blueberry mixture for lunch. It tasted good.

I played phone tag with the sewer guy for most of the day. But we finally connected about 3:00 PM. He said they still had appointments for tonight, so I told him, “Great! I’ll be there before 5:30!”

His guy showed up and I hooked up my 100-foot extension cord (they need power for the machine). It took a while and a rake to find the outside cleanout, but I finally did (it was buried under three years of leaves and such). He got to work and I went inside to get warm.

About an hour later, he knocked on the door and showed me the pile of tree roots he’d cut out (impressive, but stinky). Then he asked me to turn on all the faucets, so I did. Unfortunately, all that happened was the downstairs flooded, worse than ever!

So, he brought the machine in downstairs and opened that cleanout. About 15 minutes later, he had another stinky pile of tree roots on the tile floor. We tried turning the water back on and this time it worked!!! All the water went down (including the flood in the back room).

He charged me $150.00 for the outside work, but gave me a break and only added $75.00 for the inside.

It was after 7:00 PM when he left and I didn’t feel like cleaning up the mess (I’m gonna have to thoroughly air out downstairs on the next warm day). Instead, I washed up and warmed up more meatloaf and half of the remaining baked potato. I ate that watching TV and I watched TV until bedtime, for a change.

  1. Sorry to hear the price...Did you put the outside cleanout in or was it there? I don't have one, and always worry...I have that large maple probably ten-fifteen feet from the pipe by the street.

  2. The cleanout was here when I moved it, but it wasn't always here because it's PVC pipe. I think it was put in when they did the downstairs addition.

    P.S. Thanks!
