Hmmm... I dunno. It seems like before the roots got free, you'd be spraying gravel everywhere (like though my picture window, passing cars and all over my lawn).
I was thinking fire.
I still have this huge propane tank-fired flamethrower I bought when Jake and I put on a rubber roof on the upstairs deck at St. Clair (the family room was leaking). You had to melt the rubber as you applied it and that sucker was fierce.
I figured I could just torch it (with a garden hose nearby for safety. But, I dunno...
