I woke up at 6:30 AM to the alarm clock’s annoying noise.
I shaved and showered, got dressed and covered the furniture with visqueen. I did not ask what time the painter would be here, so it’s hard to plan my day.
About 9:00 AM, my neighbor called to see if I was ready for the painters (huh?) I told him I have been ready, where is he? He said they should be here around 10:00 AM.
It was noon (just as I was putting on my coat to go next door) when they showed up. I think what took the longest was for them to tape the room.
While they worked in the living room with the pocket door closed to keep the cats out, I worked on my bed, fixing a lamp I had on the ice box (so you could read on the love seat). The on-off switch had broken, you see. So, I replaced the cord, wired in a new socket, etc. Bingo! I got my lamp back.
I did a few other projects and the laundry, but mostly lay on the bed with the heating pad. As I said, I no longer have that intense pain, but I am really sore.
By 3:00 PM, they had the primer cut in and rolled. They said that once it dried (and it was drying quickly), they thought they could finish up today.
I reminded them that by 5:00 PM, they would lose all the natural light and that I didn’t think it was such a good deal to try and roll paint on using a work light.
So, we compromised. They cut in all the paint before the light failed and then left. They said they’d be back on Tuesday to finish the job. This time I remembered and asked, “What time?” They said, “Oh, around noon.”
Sidebar: I worked in a bank, so I know what “banker’s hours” are. But, I think “painter hours” are better!
I watched the news and then heated up the rest of the sausage and potatoes for my dinner. I got a call from my Brother Joe, inviting me to the Brother's party. I’m not sure if it’s the medication or what, but I was feeling sleepy again, so I went to bed at 9:30 PM.
