The third day of a long weekend

I woke up on Sunday at 6:00 AM. I put on a pot of coffee and had some watching the morning news.

I took a break (from taking a break, I suppose) and wrote and posted the Blog entry. Then I sat in the living room, drinking more coffee, reading a book and listening to Sunday Morning, Over Easy.

I made myself some breakfast: a tri-fold omelet with just chives and shredded cheddar cheese. It was perfect and I took it as a good omen for the day!

When the radio show ended at 11:00 AM, I went and shaved and showered. Then I headed out to Home Depot. I bought the two gallons of primer, two gallons of paint (Vanilla Cream), new cream-colored plugs and a switch, face plates (also cream) for the plugs and switch and two new heat registers (cream). The cold air returns I needed were out of stock, but should be in sometime this week. After a few deep breaths to recover from the sticker shock, I headed back home.

BTW: Weather-wise, Sunday was just a repeat of Saturday; Sunny, but cold and windy.

The walking around had tired me out, so I took a nap. When I got back up, I started on the living room prep. I moved everything (except for the two end tables) into the middle of the room. The end tables went into the kitchen.

Then I got my painter’s knife, a razor blade knife and a flat-head screwdriver. I began to take off the switch and plug plates. I had deliberately painted them over when I did the walls. But, they would look silly once the room is cream.

I used the razor blade knife to cut through the paint on all the edges. Then I used it to dig out the paint from the screw(s) slots. I took out the screw with the flat-head screwdriver and then popped them off with the painter’s knife.

The sun had set before I finished, so I rigged up a work light. When I got them all off, I started on the two heat registers and the cold air returns.

My back was starting to complain (I had to either squat or kneel to undo these things – I tried a chair, but I was still too high up). So, I figured I’d put the visqueen over the furniture in the morning.

I warmed up the last of that chicken and wild rice and thoroughly enjoyed eating it again.

Then I wandered into the bedroom and started watching my Sunday night shows. I started to doze, but I was taping them anyway. So, I gave up and went to bed for real.
