The letter I almost through away (I thought it was yet another charity wanting a donation) had a New York postmark.
It was a letter from Nero Wolfe!
Now, Nero Wolfe is a fictional detective created by Rex Stout, back in the 1930’s and one of my favorite series of books. He loved to eat well, rarely left his house and was, well, corpulent.
However, I might have mentioned this in passing to someone, but the only person I can recall having a conversation about the Nero Wolfe books is my daughter Amy, who also enjoyed them.
So, how did anybody come up with this much information? If you click on it to enlarge it, you can read him mentioning other people in his household, etc., my mother’s tuna dishes and so on.
He commended my for the word “presentation” but took me to task regarding the word “plating.”
Now, I can think of a few people clever enough to pull this off, but how did they get it mailed in New York?
It’s a delicious Christmas mystery!
