Wednesday

It was sunny but cool on Wednesday, with a bit of a breeze. I got to work on time again (this “no PICC” thing is GREAT!) Unfortunately when I got to work, I found my boss was off sick today. This made me nervous (Did he cough when he was near me? Did I touch anything he handled?). This low immunity thing is making me a bit paranoid!

At lunchtime, I stopped and got two pounds of ham for my Easter dinner at the Honey-baked Ham place. I took my gift certificate and had asked for the smallest ham they had and they asked how many I was feeding. So I said just me and they directed me to one-pound packages they had in their deli counter. Now, they were $13 each, but since I had a free certificate, I figured it was better than trying to deal with a whole ham (they are WAY too sweet to make into soup or anything). Unfortunately, instead of giving me the change in money, I got another certificate! So, I guess I’ll use it now and then to buy their deli sandwiches. Jake had told me they have smoked turkey and other things I never noticed.

I made a ham and Swiss cheese sandwich for my lunch when I dropped off the ham. I ate that with a pickle and then headed back to work.

Back home after work, I got the prescription for the blood work from Dr. Pop in the mail, so I’ll go to the clinic before work tomorrow and get it drawn (I have a similar prescription from Dr. Khatib that he gave me on Monday).

I was listening to my voicemails when I accidentally deleted one as they were just saying the number. Damn! Stupidly, I had already erased the numbers first. So, I called Bright House to see if I could retrieve a deleted message. They said sure, you just press *7 and then the # key to save it. But, you have to do it right away (while you are still on the phone). So, there’s no way now to know who called or why. Grrr!

I refilled the bird feeder while I still had my work clothes on (it was still cool in the wind). Back inside, I changed clothes and turned on the news.

I was just about to call my friend B___, when he called me. He asked about my doctor’s visit and I explained, reminding him he was right (he had said all the fuss was probably some of my “levels” were off). He said, no, he meant something like I needed more iron or something, not that my immune system was shot.

When we hung up, I opened a can of hash and diced half an onion. I sautéed the onion, added the hash and, when it started to get a little crusty, I plated it. I ate that watching some forgettable TV and then switched to reading again. I went to sleep around 10:00 PM.

  2. @ Amy: Thanks for the Honey-Baked tips. The sun was out here as well, but the breeze cancelled out any sitting outside.
