It was another warm day (high of 78 degrees today) but with a promise of rain, starting at noon on Monday.
It was funny, because EVERYONE at work (including me) was tired and sore from gardening over the weekend. In fact, Michelle spent her lunch hour in her car, with the seat down, taking a nap.
It wasn’t raining at noon, so I drove to Lowe’s to see if they had any dill (I haven’t been able to find any yet) but they didn’t. I drove back to work, hungry and discouraged.
It still wasn’t raining when I left work at 5:00 PM. The cars on the freeway were stopped dead, so I stayed on the service drive, went up to 5 Mile (Plymouth Road is torn up for construction) and took that to Inkster and home. I eventually got home, but not until 5:35!
I called Jake and we talked a while about his work and my projects (he liked the window box). He asked, since he observed that it was a slot, why didn’t I try drilling that short hole in another place. I explained that I didn’t want yet another hole in the siding and I was, frankly, too p*ssed at that point. Besides, now that it’s been painted brown, it’s virtually unnoticeable (except for the fact that I put it out there on the web for anybody to see, lol!)
After we hung up, I went out and watered the front planters (still no rain, although it’s much cooler now and “feels” like rain). I was just starting to go into the living room from the kitchen with the second full watering can when I saw a Wright-fillippis truck go by. But, by the time I got out the door and on the porch, he had already turned around and was at the corner, turning back onto Plymouth Road. Could that have been my new chair? I mean, the address is both on the mailbox and on the front porch column. I checked the both the house and cell phones and there were no calls. Damn! I guess I’ll call them in the morning and see where it’s at.
I mixed up the cherry concentrate. I used the directions on the bottle instead of Jake’s (he said it was too tart for him that way, but I wanted to see for myself). It tasted pretty good! It was tart, but nowhere near as tart as that straight cranberry juice. However, I think I’ll try cutting the concentrate in half next time.
It was already after 7:00 PM and I was beat. So, I just dished up some pasta salad for dinner. I watched a little TV and, at one point when I went to get a drink of water, I noticed the patio was damp. So, it sprinkled here, but never the nice rain I (and my flowers and grass) was hoping for. I finally gave in to fatigue and went to bed at 9:00 PM.
Oh, I forgot to tell you I wheeled out my new garbage can last night for the first time. It didn't roll as easy on the gravel as on the cement garage floor, but it still was a hell of a lot easier than putting garbage bags in the car, driving them out to the road and unloading them. I like it!
