It was a little chillier on Tuesday morning, but it was supposed to warm up nicely in the afternoon. On a whim, I wore in my tan fedora. When people asked why (I knew they would and they did), I told them I just wanted to wear something that would make me stand out a little. They looked at my brace and walker and laughed.
I returned a call I had on voicemail last night from the mortgage bank. They needed my verbal permission to discontinue the automatic house payment for June, since I will be refinancing the house this coming Saturday. So, I gave it to them. They still don’t know the exact amount of the cashier’s check I need to bring with me, which is rather annoying. I don’t want to have to be standing in line at my bank Friday night so I can make my 9:00 AM appointment at the other bank on Saturday.
I also called Wright-fillippis to check on the chair. I ended up spending a lot of time on hold at two different locations, but it turns out it’s still at the factory and won’t be delivered until early June. So it wasn’t on the truck I saw last night.
About 11:00 AM, I got a call from Jay Densmore who owns Plymouth Furniture Refinishing. If you remember, he had some family issues to deal with before he could come and get the Orion rocking chair and take it to his shop to have the seat re-caned. Well, he said he could meet me at the house at noon to pick it up.
So, I forgot going to Randazzo’s to look for herbs and, instead, headed home at lunch. He was already there when I got there. He checked the rocker’s glue (it was okay) and then loaded it into his covered pickup truck. He said he’d call me after the seat weaver comes into town and let me know when he would be dropping it off. I ate a bowl of pasta salad for lunch and then drove back to work.
I got stopped by a train on the way home after work at Levan. So, rather than repeat the annoying stoppage, I drove past Inkster to Beech-Daly (where the road runs under the tracks). It was a mile out of the way, but at least I made it home without a second delay.
After I pulled in the garage, I walked out and retrieved my garbage can and lid. Garbage people are not all that neat with your empty cans and lids, I guess. Then I came inside, treated the cats and changed clothes.
I went back outside and planted the five begonias I had left over from the window box planting. I put them in the front garden for a little color, but I had to dig down through the mulch and cut the landscape fabric to do it. Then I went inside to watch the rest of the news.
I did do the (finally) full load in the dishwasher, but nothing much else. [Note to self: you are out of dishwasher detergent! What ever happened to your system of always having one extra box in the back room? You’re slipping, old man!]
I warmed up the rest of the sloppy joe mix and ate two for dinner.
I looked at a magazine that came in the mail, watched two taped TV shows and then went to bed early again.
Keep giving all of your furniture away and you won't have anything to sit on until late June...
