Humping it on hump day

Wednesday was a mirror image of Tuesday’s weather, only without the chilly breeze.

I did make it to Randazzo’s at lunch and found the dill that no place else had left. While I was at it, I bought some green pepper plants and some eggplant for the vegetable garden. Then I shot across Warren Avenue to Lowe’s and bought some gold stair edging and gold transition molding (what you use when you go from tile to wood or carpeting). Why? Because my neighbor reminded me that I had asked him to ask his home boys about replacing my kitchen tile.

I confessed to him I never had even tried to get one of the old tiles up yet (which is what I said I'd do and why I bought that heat gun) and more or less forgot about the whole thing. But, now that he brought it back up, I’d still like to do that. So, I’ll need the metal stair edging for the two steps leading downstairs and the transition molding for the tile to the living room and the hallway wood floors.

Since shopping at the two stores took most of my lunch hour up, I just bought two hotdogs from the lady on the way out of Lowe’s and ate them in the car on the way back to work. [Note to you gourmets out there: At least around here, Home Depot has much better tasting dogs!] I wished I’d bought some water or something, too, but I didn’t. So, I not only was extremely thirsty when I got back to work, but my breath smelled like onions the rest of the day!

I had the plants in the trunk, so I lowered the one side of the rear seat, cracked the windows and opened up the sun roof so the plants wouldn’t fry in the afternoon sun. It was really warm out there!

At 5:00 PM, I headed home. Dammed if I didn’t get stopped by a train on Inkster! The sneaky bastard was going west, not the usual east. So, I got home a little later than usual. Just then the phone rang and I had the most strangest, shortest conversation with Jake I think I ever had! Thanks A LOT for the call!!

I changed clothes and went outside to plant my herbs and veggies. But, of course, now there was a problem. Once the herbs move (someday soon, I hope) the veggies would be all on top each other.

This time I used the garden weasel and worked up the soil first. Then I transplanted the parsley I had just put in the other day and planted the three green pepper plants in its place. I planted the eggplant next to the pea fence (three pea shoots are actually coming up, but I think the heat will kill them before I get to eat any fresh peas).

Then I planted the sage and the dill at the front edge of the garden. I dug out the square spray head from the garage and watered the garden for 1/2 hour. Meanwhile, I put away the tools and the plant trays, etc.

Back inside, once I shut off the outside water and reeled the hose in, I started the Wednesday night wash.

Since the sloppy joes were gone and I was pretty tired of pasta salad, I dug out some of those Marie Callender’s Swedish meatballs and stuck them in the microwave.

I ate dinner late (even for me) at about 8:30 PM. Then I hung up the shirts and pants and folded the other stuff. Finally, I settled in for a little TV and (hopefully) a lot of sleep.
