It was significantly cooler, but still sunny on Wednesday. I heard on the morning news that there had been a water main break on Levan and the exit from I-96 was closed. So, I figured I’d just go past it to the Newburgh exit. Unfortunately, so did several hundreds of other people. What made it worse was there were no warning signs out on the expressway. So, there was a huge line I had to wait to finally get into (thanks to the kindness of a stranger). Had I given it some thought, I probably would have gone up Inkster to Five-Mile and across, since Plymouth Road is all torn up.
Speaking of Plymouth Road being torn up, today was another farewell luncheon, this time for one of our System Administrators, Phyllis. It was held at Buddy’s Pizza and, of course, it’s on Plymouth Road! I took a back way, down Hines Drive to Stark and then Stark to Plymouth Road. I ordered the antipasto salad which was huge (I ended up asking for a box and taking about half of it home). I also tried some of their “Ultimate Macaroni and Cheese,” which Vicky shared with Michelle and I (pretty good, but not as good as mine).
It was still cool at 5:00 PM when I went home (only 72 degrees with a wind). I stopped at O’Rielly’s Auto Parts and bought some fuel injector cleaner. I had gotten a full tank of gas on Tuesday at a gas station I never frequent and have noticed the car hesitating every now and then ever since. I don’t know if there was water in the gasoline or what, but I’m hoping the additive helps. We’ll see...
After I treated the cats and changed clothes, I swept the kitchen floor first, then started the mid-week laundry. I caught up on a few other chores and then began more tile replacement at 6:00 PM.
Other than stopping, washing up and hanging up or folding the laundry and for the occasional cup of coffee, I worked straight through until 8:20 PM. By that time I had heated up and removed 21 old tiles and replaced them with 21 whole new tiles and seven cut down tiles (I’m at the south wall of the kitchen now). I heated up the new short pieces of tile and put a board on top of them all, weighted down with the two 10-pound dumbbells for the night. I shut off the garage lights and the lights over the band saw (which worked perfectly tonight, BTW). I cleaned up the painter’s knife with mineral spirits and washed me up yet again.
I took off my brace, got out my leftover antipasto salad and ate that for my dinner. I took my night-time pills, plus a pain pill (my back hurt). I was tired, but the coffee kept me up until the 11 o'clock news was over. Then I shut off the TV and lights and tried to get some sleep.
So, what's left for your kitchen project?
ReplyDeleteJust under the stove, the landing and the one step downstairs still need tile. Then I have to put back on all the new molding and the metal step edge protectors. Finally, I need to strip the tile and then seal it and I'm done!
