I forgot to mention that last night, before going to bed the second time, I checked the deadbolts on the front and back door (like I usually do). They were both locked (as they usually are). On my way back upstairs, I glanced out of the window in the door out to the garage to make sure the garage door was down. I could barely see it and the reason soon hit me! The outside security light on the south side of the garage was off!
Since its always left on, this was unusual! So, I slipped on my shorts and tee shirt, turned on the outside porch light, turned on the inside garage lights and opened the garage door. I walked around to the dead light to examine it. It is upside down inside a glass jar (not unlike a mason jar) and was clearly burnt out. I breathed a sigh of relief, because, if the glass jar had been broken (say like with a rock or a pellet gun) that would portend bad things. I fear no nightly noises (not with the shotgun within four feet of my bed) but I do fear somebody sneaking up on me while I’m asleep.
So, satisfied, I turned everything off, shut the garage door and went back to bed.
But, it meant that at lunchtime, in the heat (we’re supposed to hit triple digits again today, but with no rain forecast), I had to go to Home Depot and get another compact florescent bulb. I installed it when I got home, rather than wait until after work when it would be even hotter. I ate a quick lunch and then went back to work.
It was officially 95 degrees F. according to the weatherman at 5:15 PM (although my car insisted it was 103 degrees). We are supposed to still stay hot on Saturday, but this time with a chance of thunderstorms; and then cool down starting on Sunday (with a high nearer to normal of 83 degrees) and stay that way all next week (Yay!) but no more rain (Boo!)
It was the start of the weekend, it was too hot to do anything outside (and nothing needed to be watered) and, although I may have gotten a lot of sleep yesterday, it wasn’t contiguous (at one time), so I took the evening off. I watched the news, talked with B___ on the phone, paid some bills online and ate vegetarian for dinner (two ears of sweet corn and some potato salad with hard-boiled eggs added). When I started to get sleepy, I turned everything off and went to bed.
