A busy day!

My new way to get to work was blocked by a gravel hauler Wednesday morning, so I had to invent a new, new way on the spot. But, I made it. God, I hate road construction!

I went out to lunch with my old friend and co-worker, Michelle, from Facilities. We went to Steve’s Family Dining on Middle Belt (they specialize in Polish food). Michelle’s not Polish, but her husband is and she loves it. I had the “Polish Platter” which had a kielbasa, sauerkraut, two kinds of pierogies and city chicken smothered in gravy. It was delicious, but I (and the entire IT staff) regretted the results later on during the afternoon. I forgot to order the Pickle Soup, which is another of their famous Polish recipes (and actually tastes pretty good).

She showed me her daughter’s graduation pictures. It was weird. Here’s this beautiful young woman that I last saw when she was a skinny eight or nine year old. Time really does fly.

Lu was supposed to be at the house when I came home, but wasn’t. So, I went out back and watered the Arbor vitae, the grass seed and one of the peonies. Then I noticed her truck in the driveway.

She unloaded her truck on the garage apron and we loaded the bed in, protected by various blankets. Then she reloaded her truck. We discussed various places to eat and finally decided on the Rainbow (a Chinese restaurant I like in Farmington.

Before we left, I watered the other peony and showed her the improvements to the backyard.

So, as we drove up there, she shared her big news: She got married to a guy named Paul. She’s still living at Sadie’s as its and hour and a half drive to get back to do her goat chores, but is slowly moving out while he is building goat fences, sheds, etc. I told her congratulations and meant it.

I had my usual (Chicken Subgum) and she had mild Szechuan Eggplant over rice (which she said was excellent). It does have great food, but you have to remember that there are no Chinese restaurants down south. So, I took her word for it. Neither of us could finish, so I have leftovers.

When we got back (after a quick stop at Kroger’s for something she wanted), we set up the air bed (easy-peasy) and then sat in the living room and talked until about 11:30 PM. Then we both went to our respective bedroom and slept.
