Is it Friday yet?

It was supposed to be another warm, sunny day on Friday, but the humidity was high. So, while it wasn’t foggy at my house, as I drove into work, I drove into fog.

At lunchtime, I had to make a run to the Credit Bureau, to get out some cash for the tree guy (whenever he comes). There was nobody in line at the ATM, so I zipped right through. Since this branch is on Merriman, I took Hines Park Drive over to Inkster.

Hines Park is always a pleasant drive for me, because there are no lights, you can only go 40 MPH and you are literally driving though a park, so people are walking, bike riding or eating their lunch at picnic tables (I especially like the young women jogging, but, hey, that’s just me).

I decided I had time, so I hosed the car off at the quarter car wash. I left it in the drive at the house and went in to get a towel to dry it off (after treating the cats, of course). I warmed up that other twice-baked potato and ate that for lunch. Then I went back to work.

It was only after the second person (a delivery guy) wished me a nice weekend that I asked Michelle why people keep saying that. She said, “Um, because it’s Friday?” I was amazed, and delighted, because for some reason I thought it was Thursday.

Finally, it was 5:00 PM and I headed home. I got the mail, got in the garage, treated the cats, changed clothes, turned on the coffee maker and turned on the news.

At 6:00 PM, I went out back and watered the emerging grass along the new garden edging. I took two buckets way out back for the peonies (filling the bird bath and the pot of petunias on the way) and then hooked up the soaker hose in the vegetable garden. Back inside, I made another cup of coffee and set the timer for two hours.

I thought seriously (seriously) about getting back to digging out that stump. But, in spite of all my sleep last night, I was really tired and had been all day. So instead, since its supposed to be nice weather until at least Sunday night, I worked on this weekend’s ToDo list, checked my email, and Facebook, etc.

I was watching the 6:30 PM NBC Nightly News when I learned that Jerry Nelson had died. He was 78 years old and best known for his voice as the “Count” on Sesame Street. I loved that character back in the day! I wonder just how many kids he helped learn their numbers… What the hell is next? The Fraggle Rock tunnels collapse? Jesus, I hate getting old!

About 8:00 PM, I went out and disconnected the soaker hose. I pulled the regular hose in close to the house, but didn’t reel it up as I want to water the front garden in the morning.

Back inside, I cooked some white rice. I warmed up Lu’s leftover eggplant Szechuan and put it and its gravy on top the rice (that’s how it was served at the restaurant). Hmmm... it was pretty good!

I started watching some taped TV but fell asleep early.
