Road Trip v2

It was the last, beautiful day this week on Thursday. That’s because a cold front is coming in Thursday night, bringing possible rain and definitely cooler air with it.

The nice weather was welcome, because I had to go pick up my car at lunchtime. Which I did (although I considered just calling them up and say, “No, it’s okay, we can just trade. You keep mine and I’ll keep this one.”)

But, since I really didn’t think they’d buy that idea, I left at 11:30 AM for Troy. Traffic was surprisingly heavy (as compared to my last ride on Saturday morning), but I eventually got there.

It cost me $3,731.44, but that comes with a two-year, unlimited warranty on all parts (and I got a lot of parts) and labor.

I didn’t even get to Maple Road when I realized the radio wasn’t working and the screen said “Enter Code.” Now, I went though this when I replaced the battery in it a long time ago and I have the code written down somewhere, but I said screw it and went back to the dealership and made them fix the radio (its an anti-theft thing – if you disconnect it from the battery, you need a secret code unique to your VIN number to make it work again).

I finally got back to work at 1:20 PM.

When I got home after work, I turned on the sprinkler (which, if you remember, I put in place last night) and set the timer for an hour. Then I hand watered all the areas out front where I put grass seed. When the timer went off, I shut off the water and carried two buckets of water out to the peonies. Yes, I did say its supposed to rain tonight, but it has “supposed” to rain a lot this summer and didn’t.

I refilled the bird feeder and went back into the house for a garbage bag and my stick with a nail in it. Carrying those buckets out back reminded me just how bad the trash was getting again. I walked the entire back yard and ended up with a garbage bag so full it was hard to close! Damn litterbugs!

It was getting dark by the time I got back inside, so I warmed up the last of the spaghetti and meatballs for dinner (I will miss them).

I couldn’t help myself. Although I said I was going to wait for the weekend, I opened the first season of Breaking Bad and watched the first ever show. It was great and Jake was right: Now I understand some things better.

I was going to watch the next one, but decided I better get some sleep. But, before I did, I read a little of my book and had some saltine crackers and that Roka Blue cheese spread knockoff. I was lying there reading when it struck me just how often my Mother probably did the same exact thing: ate a snack of Roka Blue spread and crackers and read a book, even though it was getting late.
