Blustery, Hell!

Tuesday was a windy, wet and cold day here in Southeast Michigan. When I took out the last bag of trash, I set the trash can (which was still there, then) on the edge of it, so it wouldn't blow way, as the wind was coming straight from the north, strong and steady with gusts up to 50 MPH.

When I started the car to leave for work, the first thing I noticed was I only had my left headlight shining on the garage wall. The right was dark. Great!

There also was a light rain that I cursed on the way to work, but thanked later when Michelle, who sits next to me and lives in Waterford, told me she drove in through snow and sleet!

I decided it was stupid to walk outside, so I walked around the offices and the shop areas of my building in the morning. I got stopped and asked three times with questions like: “Can I help you?” “Are you looking for somebody?” and so on. Each time I explained what I was doing, so maybe enough people will know that the winter month’s walks won’t be such an interrogation.

At lunch, I headed home, but stopped at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts first.$19 US later, I left for home, in the wind and a misty rain. When I got there, the first thing I did was to retrieve my empty trash can and lid from the vacant lot next door, where it had blown. There was no sign of the trash bag, so I guess it made it on the garbage truck.

I did the afternoon tour of the building and got a lot of stares, but no questions.

I left work 15 minutes early so I could be on time for my 5:30 PM dentist appointment. He did some grinding on the teeth that will secure my new bridge and then we had to do another mold with that yucky clay shit. This time, thank God, it was only on the bottom (it’s the one on top that really makes you gag). And then we had to repeat the bite on liquid silicone or something mold.

I left there about an hour later, spitting out little bits of blue gunk, and drove home in a real rain, this time. The winds still had not died down. It was too dark in the garage to install the headlight and the bulb in my trouble light had burned out! Besides, I was cold and tired, so that will have to wait.

I had thawed some of that mushroom barley soup, so I warmed that up after I brushed my teeth. I had a small bowl of it for dinner. I winded up watching TV until 10:30 PM and then went to bed.

  1. Does the "mushroom barley soup" freeze well? I ate all of mine but that's good to know!

  2. It seemed to. The mushrooms weren't soggy or anything and it tasted how I remembered it. So, yeah, I guess it does freeze well.
