I woke up on Friday with the alarm, for a change. It wasn’t raining, but with a predicated high of only 46 and a wind blowing, it wasn’t a very pleasant morning. Neither was my morning walkabout.
I went to Westborn at lunch to try and find a fresh baked loaf of rye bread (so I could cut bigger slices). No dice. If I wanted Rustic Italian (one of my favorites) or Asiago cheese bread, no problem. But no plain old rye!
One the way to the house for lunch, I stopped and filled up my gas tank. Standing in the wind reminded me I have to look for my winter gloves! I ate the rest of the chicken fried rice for lunch.
My afternoon walk wasn’t much warmer, BTW.
Finally I was bangin’ that drum and heading home for the weekend. When I got there, I treated the cats, changed clothes and started a load of towels, and my bathrobe. I watched the news while that was cycling through.
I put the laundry in the dryer and made my dinner: Another Reuben sandwich. Once again, it was delicious and once again I wished it wasn’t so filling so I could have more.
Sticking with the Reuben theme, I watched True Grit (the new one with Jeff Bridges) again. When it was finished, it was still early but I went to bed.
Did it ever occur to you that you can grill a 1/2 rueben...just cut the bread in half and proceed?

amazing
Wait, wait! What the hell would that accomplish? I cut them in half as it is. Why would tow half reubens's be better than one whole one? I still want more!!!
ReplyDeleteI did think of one thing, though, rather than the dangerous and messing flip. I've had an original George Foreman grille (and as I think back, I believe you turned me on to it) since living in St. Clair.
I gave up using it as a grill years ago. But, I did realize its potential and have used it as a panini press with great success.
So, I think I'll try and use it to toast my Reuben's instead of my skillet and flipping, next sandwich.
Yes, George makes great ruebens...and I meant you ate one - still hungry so make 1 and 1/2 and not hungry

Oh, sorry... that went right over my head...
