Friday morning was again sunny and cold, which made my
morning walk bracing.
I went to Westborn at lunchtime to get some tomatoes for
weekend sandwiches and, lo and behold, they had clam chowder! So, I bought some
for my lunch instead of eating leftovers as I’d planned.
Sometime in the afternoon, the news of the tragedy at Sandy
Hook Elementary began to spread throughout the building and everyone turned to
cell phones and computers to learn more about it. It was unthinkable and made
the rest of the day seem unimportant.
Back home after work, I turned on the news and watched it
straight through until 8:00 PM ( the
NBC Nightly New went on for an extra half hour).
For dinner, I warmed up more roast beef along with some of
the butternut squash and a baked potato (my original meal). It was excellent,
still.
I watched some TV until 10:30
PM and then went to sleep.
